2006 has been a great year for me – new company, new website, and moving into full time freelance.

Thanks to all of my clients in 2006, without you I wouldn’t be getting up each day and really enjoying the things that I do. A big thank you also to everyone who visits and reads what I have to say, I hope at least some of it has been helpful.

So, merry Christmas, enjoy the turkey, and see you all in 2007!

CS3If you haven’t heard, Adobe released a beta version of Photoshop CS3 today.

It sports a much refined interface – dare I say “Macromedia” like? Most importantly for Mac users like myself, it comes in universal binary format. This means you can enjoy the full speed of that shiny Intel chip, rather than chugging along in Rosetta like a clapped out old G4.

I’ve also noticed a few nice Mac touches like transparent interface window headers, and window fading when Photoshop looses focus. I guess these are all down to the fact that Adobe re-coded Photoshop in Xcode. They now have access to libraries like Core Image and the new Core Animation.

Overall, a it’s a great step forward for Photoshop on the Mac for me, even at this beta stage. Users with a CS2 license can use the beta for the next little while, otherwise there is a two day usage limit. I fully recommend giving it a go.

So maybe that’s what was up with the major Adobe update today. Adobe update manager just updated a crapload of things.

I have all the Macromedia products and Photoshop CS2v2.

      I can’t wait to see CS3! Yippie!

It does doesn’t it? I couldn’t believe my stars when this thing popped up on macupdate. A wonderful addition to my web-developer arsenal. I just hope all the Adobe-on-the-Mac naysayers have found enough dark corners to crawl into.

While I’m certainly ecstatic this update has rolled out, I’ll be all the more pleased when Universal versions of Dreamweaver and Illustrator roll out the doors. Adobe, I don’t celebrate Christmas, but if I did this would have been the gift to top all gifts :)
